Further Developments – Job Retention Scheme (Furlough Leave)
Some more developments with the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (Furlough Leave) – April 2020.
HMRC announced yesterday that its online portal for employers to claim grants under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme will be open on 20 April 2020.
In the meantime it will be publishing a guidance document on how to claim so that employers can be ready when the portal opens.
How it Will Work
HMRC also gave some indication as to how the scheme will work.
It explained that employers will only be able to claim once per pay period, so once a week for weekly paid employees and once a month for those who are monthly paid.
It also said that employers will be able to claim 14 days ahead, which will hopefully reduce some of the burden on employers and reduce cash flow issues.
