Update to HMRC Furlough Guidance
Update to HMRC Furlough Guidance
Employment Solicitor looks at the Update to HMRC Furlough Guidance.
HMRC has updated its Furlough guidance to clarify what employers can do in relation to employees whose health has been affected by COVID-19.
Employers can now furlough employees who are unable to work because they:
- are clinically extremely vulnerable or at the highest risk of severe illness from coronavirus and following public health guidance; and/or
- have caring responsibilities resulting from coronavirus (COVID-19).
It is, therefore, clear that employers can furlough employees who are not able to work because they are homeschooling their children or caring for a vulnerable person in their household.
